L.A. Candy

I chose to talk about L.A. Candy this week because one of my close friends is currently reading this book and says it is really good. Written by Lauren Conrad, the book is about a young girl who moves to L.A. and becomes a reality star. She soon finds out that stardom is not what it is cracked up to be and true friends are hard to find when you are in the spotlight.

The Best of Me

This weeks book is called The Best of Me by my all time favorite, Nicholas Sparks. The book is about a man and a woman who are highschool sweethearts that lose touch throughout the years. They meet up at a mutual friends funeral and rekindle the flame. I have read several reviews for this book and I'm kind of dissapointed. Most of the reviews are negative and say that Nicholas Sparks has completely missed the mark on this one. I sure hope not. Has anyone read this? Is it really that bad?

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

The book I would like to talk about this week is a mystery called The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. It was originally a bestseller in Europe. It is the first of three novels by Swedish author Stieg Larsson. I have not had the chance to read this book yet but the reviews for it are great. It must be good because there is now a movie based on the book. Has anyone read this? And if so, is it worth the time and money??

The Notebook

This weeks book isn't a new one but it is one of my favorites. The Notebook, by Nicholas Sparks, is a great story about true love. Sparks does an exceptional job at creating dynamic characters. In my opinion, Sparks is one of the best romance novelists. This book will keep you interested the entire time you are reading it. Like I said, I know this isn't a new bestseller, but it is a great story that you should definitely read if you get the chance!

Lethal

My last post was on New York Times number one best seller, so I figured my next one would be on NYT's number two bestseller. Now I haven't read this one yet but it sounds really good and has great reviews so far. It is Sandra Brown's new book, Lethal. The book starts off with a man showing up in Honor Gillette's yard. This man happens to be Lee Coburn, the man accused of killing seven people the night before. Although she is scared, Coburn convinces Honor that she can trust him. Together, they have to run from people that are out to get them and prove his innocence.

The Help

The Help, by Kathryn Stockett,  is a very intriguing book. The main character, Skeeter, is a young white woman who has just graduated college. She moves back home after graduating with a degree in English. She decides to write a book from the perspective of the "help". Skeeter is angered when employers refuse to allow the maids to use the toilets. She gets several of the help to talk about their experiences as maids. To protect the "help", she uses fake names.
This book is great. I really enjoyed reading it. It has great characters that are entertaining. A must read.

Buzz, Balls, and Hype

Here is an interesting site for blogging about books. It is called Buzz, Balls, and Hype. They give great reviews on books. They were rated one of the top book blogs of 2010.

Heavin is For Real

The first book that I chose to do a blog over is called Heaven is For Real. It is about a little boy who has to have surgery. While he is unconscious, he has some sort of out of body experience. He sees things that would not normally be possible. When he wakes up, he starts telling his family about all the things that he saw. Things that he couldn't possibly know about.

While reading this book, you can't help but think about how crazy this story sounds. But it is a true story. It drags you in right away to where you don't want to put the book down. It is a short read, only about 140 pages, so it can easily be read in one day. This is a great story and a must read.

Has anyone else read this book? If so what are your thoughts?
